What I Am Wearing

I cannot believe it is already almost the end of October! I am counting down the days till Thanksgiving, Christmas and then my birthday in January. For many living in the Midwest/East Coast the weather is already starting to get cool, however not in LA. The other day it was in the high eighties while other days it will be in the sixties. The weather is not the bad part, its what to wear that really messes with your wardrobe. Going to a fashion school (FIDM) one day everyone will be in their trendy summer clothes while the next day everyone is in head to toe layers. I officially give up haha

Timberland Trend…

So I have seen this trend SO much in LA. I was very hesitant about it but then the more I kept witnessing people wear these boots I slowly started to want a pair. FINALLY today I bought some, being completely honest they are not name brand Timberland boots but they are such good quality and I instantly fell in love once I tried them on. These boots are SO 90’s but I kinda love it. So many celebs have been spotted wearing this trend, especially one of my favorite Kardashians.

I really want to experiment with different looks I can pair the boots with and today it was the perfect temperature for an over sized sweater.

Back 2 School

I officially started my VERY last quarter at FIDM! I thought I would share my first day of school look with all of you. This past week I have been so busy, I have moved into a new apartment with my friend Drew. Be on the lookout for an apartment tour. Also, I am still interning at both Rachel Zoe and Chic Little Devil so that is keeping me busy. I can not believe I am in my very last quarter, time sure does fly.

San Diego got a dose of Marie!

My last few days of spring break were spent in San Diego! I have never traveled to this part of California and took a train ride along the coast to get there. My aunt, uncle and two cousins were there while my uncle had a convention/meetings to attend. They invited me to tag alone and hang out with them at their hotel and explore. Of course I said yes! Vacationing with my aunt involves a lot of good eating, drinking and shopping. Which we did!

I arrived in San Diego in the late afternoon, we stayed at the Hilton Bayfront hotel. It was BEAUTIFUL, our room was on the 30th floor, overlooking the bay.

We quickly walked to San Diego’s Little Italy and explored. It was such a fun little town. I am basically 100% Italian so it was nice to finally be around some true Italian culture since moving to LA. We had reservations at this Italian restaurant Bencotto. The restaurant was amazing, they served all homemade pasta and everything was made from scratch. I ordered homemade black squid ink gnocchi with lobster bisque sauce with shrimp.

The second day of my trip we went for breakfast and walked around the Gaslamp Quarter. It is filled with restaurants, shops and art galleries. After we took a 2 hour boat tour. It was so nice to be out on the water and see how beautiful San Diego is.

After we took the boat tour we got ready for dinner. We had reservations at the new restaurant Juniper and Ivy. My aunt and cousin are huge fans of  the show top chef and the winner Richard Blais opened this restaurant. We got to talk with the chef, Richard Blais, himself and he even gave us a private tour of this kitchen. The food was amazing and was one of my favorite meals of all time.

Day 3

The third day we went shopping and laid out by the pool the rest of the day. The pool was crowded but it was nice to finally be laying out in the warm sun.

Day 4

The fourth day was my last day! It was so much fun to see my family and I had such a fun time. I took a train in the afternoon and back to LA I went.

Obsession #3.

This post involves two trends that I have been liking, harem pants and cropped tops.

When people think of harem pants you think of, the baggy, slouchy trousers tapered at the ankles? Images of Aladdin and MC Hammer then pop up in your head? Well the harem pant is the go-to statement piece. After witnessing many FIDM students sport these pants with such confidence and ease, I had to try the trend. This effortless beach/boho vibe just screams comfortable.

While wearing these pants balance the silhouette with a form fitting top in a solid color and slip on sandals or heels. A higher heel will lengthen the look and make it more formal for a night out; wedges or booties look great too!

While shopping for this trend I came across a crop top, which is a trend I normally don’t wear. For years I have kept wishing and wanting crop tops to go out of style. The new way to style a crop top is to just show a small bit of skin, Kim Kardashian rocks this trend.

After trying on this crop top I figured why not, and paired it with my new harem pants.

This is my new favorite “going out” look, and I recommend everyone try this trend.

Obession 2.

I am loving the over-the-knee sock trend. I was hesitant about this trend, but styled right it can flatter anyone. This trend has always been around but has never been that popular. Knee high socks go great with boots, heels and even sneakers, depending on the outfit. Several types of dresses and skirts can make the perfect outfit. Staying comfy with just a little thigh showing is enough to having a sexy, but cute and classy look all in one.

I was inspired by this simple styling trick/overall look, and I created my own.

Now is the time to try this trend! Confidence is key. Show all those people just how fashionable you can be.
